Direct answer: In Palworld, the offspring is decided by the parents’ hidden breeding power values. Target power = floor((Parent 1 power + Parent 2 power + 1) ÷ 2), and the egg hatches into the Pal whose breeding power is closest to that target. Same-species pairs always produce the same species, and special combinations (like Relaxaurus + Sparkit = Relaxaurus Lux) ignore the formula completely.

Palworld Breeding Power Calculator

Enter the two parents’ breeding power values to find the target power. You can also type both parent names — the tool will look up their powers and check the special-combination list. Or pick a famous special combination to see its fixed result.

Please enter valid breeding power values above zero, or enter both parent names.

How Palworld breeding works

Every Pal species has a hidden number called breeding power (also called CombiRank in the game files). It is never shown in the game. When two Pals breed, the game averages the parents’ breeding power values and picks the offspring species from that result. Lower breeding power means rarer, stronger Pals — for example Jetragon sits at 70, while the common Lamball sits at 3050. Two high-power (common) parents simply never reach the legendary range.

To breed at all you need a Breeding Farm (unlocked at Technology Level 19), one male and one female Pal, and a Cake placed in the farm’s chest.

The breeding formula

Target power = floor((Parent 1 power + Parent 2 power + 1) ÷ 2)

Then: Offspring = the Pal whose breeding power is closest to the target power. If two Pals are equally close to the target, the lower breeding power wins in this calculator (for example, target 1815 resolves to Sibelyx at 1810 rather than Xenovader at 1820). Note: the game’s exact tie-break is not fully confirmed for every pair, so treat tied results as provisional. Two exceptions override the formula: same-species pairs always breed true, and hard-coded special combinations produce a fixed child.

Special combinations (formula ignored)

Some pairs are hard-coded in the game to a fixed child, no matter what the average says. These are the confirmed special combinations for game version 1.0.

Important 1.0 corrections: Older guides list Penking + Bushi → Anubis, Mossanda + Katress → Anubis and Incineram + Surfent → Anubis. In game version 1.0 these are not Anubis: Penking + Bushi gives Sibelyx via the formula (target 1815, closest to Sibelyx at 1810). Mossanda + Katress (target 2050) and Incineram + Surfent (target 1955) do not produce Anubis (480) in 1.0 — their 1.0 child is unconfirmed, so this page does not guess it.

Gender-dependent pair: Katress + Wixen depends on genders — female Katress + male Wixen produces Katress Ignis, while male Katress + female Wixen produces Wixen Noct. The calculator flags this pair instead of guessing.

The Terraria collab Pals (all at breeding power 3100) also have fixed pair results; these are included in the calculator’s override list. The full 164-row special-combination dataset is linked under Sources below.

Data sources and version

Breeding power values and special combinations on this page come from the palworldonline.net 1.0 data export (game version 1.0, data updated 2026-07-14), cross-checked against the OP.GG breeding power listings. Attribution: palworldonline.net (data used with appreciation per its license).

Do not mix scales: pre-1.0 breeding guides use a different breeding-power scale. Values from older guides are not comparable with this 1.0 table.

Tie-breaks: when two Pals are equally close to the target power, this calculator prefers the lower power (verified for Penking + Bushi → Sibelyx in 1.0). The game’s exact tie-break order is not fully confirmed for every pair, so tied results are marked provisional.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Do not chase a legendary from common parents. The average of two high-power parents stays high, so it can never land in the legendary range.
  • Chain breed toward your target. Breed a mid-range Pal first, then pair it with a stronger parent to walk the target power down step by step.
  • Check special recipes before doing the math. If your target is a subspecies like Relaxaurus Lux, only its fixed recipe works.
  • Remember eggs can mutate. About 1% of eggs with a standard Cake (about 3% with an Extravagant Vegetable Cake) hatch a different species than the formula predicts.
  • Passive skills are a separate roll. Breed parents that already carry the passives you want; the species result stays the same either way.

Frequently asked questions

How does breeding work in Palworld?

Place one male and one female Pal in a Breeding Farm with a Cake. The game averages their hidden breeding power values, and the egg hatches into the species closest to that average — unless the pair is a hard-coded special combination.

What is breeding power?

Breeding power (CombiRank in the game files) is a hidden number assigned to every Pal species. Lower means rarer and stronger. This page lists the full 1.0 table of 299 values.

Can two common Pals breed a legendary Pal?

No. The offspring’s target power is the average of the parents, so two high-power (common) parents can never reach the low-power legendary range.

What are special combinations?

Special combinations are parent pairs hard-coded by the game to a fixed child that ignores the breeding formula — for example Relaxaurus + Sparkit always gives Relaxaurus Lux. One pair (Katress + Wixen) even depends on the parents’ genders.

What do I need to start breeding?

A Breeding Farm (Technology Level 19), one male and one female Pal, and a Cake in the farm’s chest.

Do offspring inherit passive skills and stats?

Only the species is decided by breeding power. Passive skills, stats and mutations are rolled separately.

Note: This is an unofficial fan tool and is not affiliated with Pocketpair or Palworld. Breeding values come from the community 1.0 dataset described under Data sources and version.
